I am Maleah Slade and I currently live in Auburn, Georgia. Prior to living here, I was born and raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Everyday I learn something new about the world and gain more insight into my identity, and it is these newfound aspects that help me discover my interests. As a black woman, I love to talk about intersectionality in areas such as race, gender, and even sexual identity and orientation. I have two years of experience in American Sign Language, and I hope to learn French and Spanish next.

I would consider myself to be a very quiet person, but I am able to show others who I am using my artistic abilities and creativity. In middle school and my freshman year of high school, I was a violinist in the school orchestra. While I love to read poetry, I especially love books containing illustrations, such as graphic novels and comic books. I love cartoons and video games, and the popular franchise Sonic the Hedgehog inspired me to hone my skills and teach myself how to draw and paint.

My love for the arts and intersectionality drew me to attend Agnes Scott College. My intentions are to pass all of my classes and to become a Studio Art major whose artwork can explore different communities and aspects of identities and discuss how they can intersect with one another, such as the LGBTQ+ community, feminism, anti-racism, and blackness.
